About us

 

Glos.Vox community choir practise at Horfield Baptist Church in North Bristol, on Gloucester Road. It was originally set up by Laurie Stewart from Bristol Sings Music and is now conducted by Nonny Tabbush, an up and coming folk singer and choral practitioner. The choir practise every Wednesday during term time from 7 - 9pm. The choir learn their music by ear making it accessible to everyone. The choir is open to everyone with no auditions held. It covers a wide variety of music genres including folk, world and contemporary. The choir are happy and fun loving. They create a sense of community and a love for singing.

 

 

 

Our Conductor

 

Nonny Tabbush is a fun and lively choir conductor who has lots of experience in working with singers of all ages. She has started and run several community choirs, including The Westy Community Choir and The Phoenix Community Choir, singing a range of material including folk, world and contemporary. She also works as a vocal practitioner for Bristol Plays Music, teaching song in both Primary and Secondary Schools.

 

Nonny is also an experienced performer. She started her career in vocal harmony when she was 16 years old, as one of The Tabbush Sisters which performed at folk festivals across the country. She is now in a ceilidh band called The Bristol Ceilidh Quartet and a vocal harmony folk trio called Norman Tabbush Starfield.

Nonny also runs the Folk House Choir on a Tuesday.
